Summer 2010 -Winter 2011: South Wind is conducting a Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) project for the New Mexico State Forestry Division. South Wind field teams will visit over 1,100 locations scattered throughout western New Mexico on lands including: US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamation, Tribal Lands, and Private lands. Summer 2010 – Summer 2011: South Wind is conducting a rangeland inventory for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in south-central Montana. This is a 360,000 acre inventory with site visits to 655 locations randomly located across the reservation in rangeland and forested settings. Summer-Fall 2010: South Wind is conducting three large scale vegetation inventories on the Navajo Nation with Ecosphere Environmental Services. Projects will take place inthe Utah portion of Monument Valley, The Chuska Mountains in New Mexico, and near Ft. Defiance, AZ. Summer 2009-2013: South Wind is monitoring vegetation responses to ground water pumping as part of the Closed Basin Project. Vegetation monitoring includes ground monitoring and satellite imagery analysis near Alamosa, CO for the Bureau of Reclamation. Spring 2010: South Wind provided botanical support services to a private client as part of a large Solar project in southern California. Summer 2007 –Fall2009: South Wind completed a 1.3 million acre rangeland inventory for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Crow Reservation in Montana. At the completion of the 2009 field season South Wind had inventoried all of the acreage of rangeland of the Crow Reservation. Over 1900 sites were visited and analyzed as part of this inventory. South Wind recorded multiple new county and state botanical records. Spring and Fall 2009: South Wind conducted county wide remnant prairie searches for the Native Prairies Association of Texas. Upon location each site was assessed and documented. The project took place insix counties in north Texas. Spring and Fall 2009 – South Wind provided biological support services to Kemp Anderson Consulting for a USGS Desert Tortoise monitoring project. Spring 2009 – South Wind provided biological support services to Ecosphere Environmental Services for a US Forest Service Mexican Spotted Owl monitoring project in northern New Mexico. Spring 2008 &spring 2009 – South Wind completed three riparian restoration re-vegetation projects on the Gunnison River for the Bureau of Land Management in western Colorado. Spring and Fall 2008 -South Wind completed three rangeland trend studies in the Trout Creek Mountains, Jordan Valley, and Cow Creek areas of southeast Oregon for the Bureau of Land Management. Fall 2008 –South Wind completed an Oregon Spotted Frog monitoring project for the Bureau of Land Management near Klamath Falls, OR. Summer 2008 – South Wind completed rangeland trend studies for the Bureau of Land Management near Cody, WY. |
